More From San Francisco: The Aquarium of the Bay

We had the most amazing time in San Francisco! Walked and ate our way across the city. San Fran is one of my favorite places in the world.

I’m writing on my friend Carol’s blog, NYCityMama, about the trip. Check it out. I’ll link to each of the posts. I took more than 600 photos so rather than bombarding you with a slide show that lasts 2 hours long, I’ll break them up into chunks on her blog.
I love traveling!
In thinking about our upcoming trip to Paris, I remember the last trip, 10 years ago.

France has always had a special place in our hearts. I met my husband in French class, actually. It’s a good tale. We flirted the first year, but didn’t start dating for almost 2 years. At that point, we were both planning trips to Europe. We decided to go together. I remember the fear at the thought of it not working out and we having to sit next to one another for an 8 hour flight. Luckily it all turned out ok.
That summer, we traipsed across Europe with our backpacks weighing us down. We lived on bread and cheese (and wine) and learned things about ourselves and each other. It was a formative time.
The following year, we decided to study in Belgium (France would have been preferred, but our school had a program with a school in Belgium). That trip was less pleasant, primarily because we hated the town we were in for four months. But that winter, we rang in the new year in Paris. Ten years ago, in fact. And now we’ll be watching the fireworks at the Tour Eiffel yet again…with our son.
We’re really excited to experience France again, this time as older and wiser people with slightly more money than broke college students. We plan to live on bread and cheese again, if only for the pleasure. We want to explore farmer’s markets and cook with ingredients we don’t have at home. We want to introduce our son to this magical place that has been the cement of our strong relationship.
