Diet Recap

I lost 8 pounds! Yay! Too bad it was the 8 pounds I’d gained since I lost it last year. Still, the feeling of clothes fitting better is so worth it.

I tried the Wii Fit for a week or 2 to burn the calories I was burning walking but it just didn’t do the trick. So I went back to walking 4+ miles every day, and played on the Wii Fit for an extra 100 calories. I liked checking in daily to check my BMI (though I really hate how it tells me I’m overweight and need to aim for a BMI equivalent to 116. NOT.) and do the mind and body challenges.

I see the difference. Others do too. A pair of new pants is too baggy and, gasp, might I need a size 8? I haven’t seen a size 8 since…high school?

Dieting sucks. I’m not going to lie. I hated most every minute. But it’s over and if I don’t pig out and drink during the week, I hope to maintain my weight.

Bring it on, holidays!

A Dear John Letter

Dear Diet–

I know we’ve been together a while (6 weeks is a long time to commit to you), but it’s time for us to part. You’ve served your purpose and now I’m going back to the real world…without you.

I know we fought often. Me, screaming that I wanted a cookie. Or chocolate. Or bread. You, stolid, quiet, waiting for the storm to pass. I now know the lesson you were teaching me. When I stepped on the scale and saw I’d lost weight, I understood.

I’m sorry I cheated on you a few times. I know you knew. That telltale smudge of chocolate onĀ  my lips. The smell of rice on my breath. I did you wrong, and I apologize.

But now it’s time to move on. You taught me a lot, and helped me fit in smaller pants.

Sincerely,

Me
