Why All Girlfriends Should Take Trips Together
Last weekend I went with my four closest friends to Borrego Springs, which is the desert about 1.5 hours away from San Diego. We were celebrating two of the friends’ birthdays with a spa resort trip. It was heaven to have time to lounge by the pool and not have to worry who was pushing who in the water. And have a massage. And facial. And lots of wine.
When we have Girls’ Nights Out, we never have enough time to really talk. This time we did. It made me realize how important having girlfriends is to me.
Things got a little crazy as the night progressed (read: being silly and giggling. there may have been one bathroom purge). Still, we were in bed by 11. Like good moms.
The next day we took a hike. The hike warned us to bring plenty of water. They weren’t kidding! It’s amazing to me how different the climate can be so close to home. We scrambled up and down rocks and finally got the payoff of a small, cool waterfall and pool. Refreshing.
We had a great surprise when we saw a flock? gaggle? bunch? of bighorn sheep. They showed off a bit for us.
I felt powerful after the hike. And really, really thirsty! But I loved sharing the experience with my girls. If you have girlfriends, I encourage you to go away for just a night and treat yourselves right. You’ll be a better mother and wife for it! ![]()
