Learning Golf

Funny as it is to some, The Hub and I are taking golf lessons. And I like it. We signed up for 5 weeks with the local adult ed department, and all of our classmates are over 60 and female. Naturally, he stands out quite a bit.

Golf

So far we’ve just focused on driving. I find it so satisfying to hit the ball far. It’s the same feeling I get when I kick the karate bag hard. (Oh, we got our yellow belts, by the way)

The instructor says I’m strong with my swing. That makes me happy! I told The Hub I realize: I’m good at sports!  I know, I know. I shouldn’t be surprised. But I am. It makes it easier to stay fit when I pick things like golf and karate up easily.

Plus, who can hate a sport that you drive a golf cart around in and drink alcohol??

The Mystery of the Big Lips

A few weeks ago, I thought my lips were sunburned. They were swollen, like I’d gotten Botox, and tingly. Then it happened again. Apparently I’m allergic to something.

In analyzing what I’d eaten, my first conclusion was that it was wine. WINE??? Oh God. Anything but that. I’m not convinced now, because it’s been over a week since I had wine, and I still have the reaction. It’s worst when I wake up.

It might be the mouthwash. Or the toothpaste. I’m taking different things out of my diet to see if the reaction goes away. So far no luck.

Searching online isn’t helping. People are allergic to all sorts of things. Sigh. Anyone have any suggestion?

How the Summer Flies By

It’s been a busy week. First, my company celebrated its fifth birthday (a major landmark for any small biz), which meant I was sending gifts to clients (I always send gifts and cards on OUR birthday!!) and making an icebox cake to celebrate.

Then The Hub graduated from The Founder Institute, which is like an intense 4-month MBA for startup founders. It’s been stressful since it required so much of his time, so needless to say it was a relief that it was finally over. We celebrated at his graduation and I made some new entrepreneur-y friends.

Spa pedicure date with an old friend. Took nephew to airport. Rest.

Then I head to Austin to visit Dell headquarters again, visit my friend in Wisconsin and my mom visits. Then potentially a trip to NYC. It never ends!

It’s not even officially summer for us, since Max doesn’t get out til July 26, but it seems like everything happens in the summer. Why is that?

Oh and just to make you Southerners jealous: we just now turned on our A/C for the day when it hit 99. We do it like 5 times all year. Heaven!
