It’s National Mom’s Nite Out!

Hooray! Today is National Mom’s Nite Out, which is a nationwide event where moms leave the kids and hubs behind and hang out for food, wine and fun. Needless to say, I am stoked.

There are events in cities all across the country, but I will be at the San Diego event (at the Glass House Bar if you’re local). I’m excited to meet other mothers in the area, and I’m bringing some new friends with me.

My friends are beyond the moon about going, and I was a bit puzzled. After all, I go out every month or two with friends, so what’s the big deal? I realized that most moms don’t deem themselves important enough for a girls’ night, massage or yoga. I’m relatively unique in that I do all these things for myself.

I believe you have to take care of yourself and feed your spirit, or else you’re no good for your family. Don’t feel guilty for having drinks or getting a pedicure with gal pals. Your family will not fall apart while you’re gone. I promise.

So make me a promise. Even if you can’t make it to Mom’s Nite Out, make your own. Find a friend or two and take just 2 or 3 hours for yourself. I guarantee you’ll be happier for it.
