Send ME to BlogHer 09!
I’m trying to win a ticket from Extraordinary Mothers to attend BlogHer 09, an amazing conference aimed at women who blog.
I attended last year, and it was an amazing experience. I met so many terrific women who blogged, who got what I do. I made friendships that have lasted, and learned a ton. I could wax on, but I won’t.
But why I really want to go this year is because of this blog. Last year I went under the umbrella of The Marketing Eggspert. I was all business. And there were a lot of mommybloggers there. I didn’t completely connect to them because I felt I was on the other side of the blogging fence.
Well now that I’ve come out of the mommyblogging closet, I want to go as a Mommyblogger! I want to embrace what that means and get the most out of the experience. I want to meet others who write about the delicate balance between parenting and insanity, and find others who also run a business in addition (or maybe through) to their mommyblogging experiences.
I’ve always found it hard to be professional and personable. Chris Brogan told me to work on it. I did. I am. But to go back to BlogHer 09 as a woman, a mother, a wife, a blogger, I think it will be a different experience from what it was last time.
I also want to bridge that gap between my PR savvy and my mommyblogging. I love the fact that more and more businesses are understanding that bloggers are a force to be reckoned with. I want to play. I want to find products that I can recommend because I like them. I want to build relationships with exhibitors at the conference, to help them get the word out about their brands. I want to help my readers find products they can have faith in, just because I recommend them (and I never recommend anything I can’t stand behind).
In short, I believe I am an Extraordinary Mother who deserves to go to the conference. One who will participate. One who will give more than she takes. One who will listen and learn.
